Bengaluru: Apart from being anti-people, the manner in which the State government has enforced the law banning cow slaughter is detrimental to the democratic system. Yasir Hasan, the Popular Front of India’s Karnataka State President condemned the fact that the law was implemented with voice votes, despite the opposition from the farmer class, who depend on livestock for their livelihood, without even first ensuring appropriate dialogue in the Vidhan Parishad and said that such happenings are detrimental to the conduct of Parliamentary Democracy.

Although the BJP government does not have a majority in Vidhan Parishad, during the absence of opposition parties and amid the debate surrounding Governor’s speech, the BJP has resorted to fraudulent politics by enforcing the ban on cow slaughter through voice votes, which is nothing but deceitful. At the same time, non-BJP parties with more strength in number than the BJP must clarify to the people of the state about their failure to prevent BJP from committing such fraud. The Popular Front insisted them to demonstrate their commitment to a legal struggle against a state government that has crushed their constitutional right. A writ petition has been filed in the High Court against the BJP government seeking to enforce the Cow Slaughter Prohibition Law, and the High Court has already issued the notice on its legal validity. The BJP, however, has maintained its dictatorial attitude and abused its power by illegally enforcing the law.

From the outset, the Fascists have been successful in propagating that Cow-Slaughter is a necessity of religion. But the impact of the Cow Slaughter Prohibition Law will prove that it is the means of livelihood of the masses. On the other hand, the BJP government has issued a permit for hooliganism, moral police, and robbery in the guise of ‘Gaurakshaks’. In this context, even the silence of the secular parties surrounding the law is greatly alarming.
He further urged the People to protest on the streets against such dark laws that have a profound effect on the livelihood of the people of the state and threaten peace and order. The government should put aside its dictatorial attitude and recognize people’s referendum and repeal the ban on cow slaughter. The Popular Front demands that the governor, for whatever reason, must refuse to sign such an anti-people law, and send it back to the Vidhan Parishad for debate.
