According to the report of The Wire, Uttar Pradesh police filed a criminal case against a man who had posted a tweet requesting an oxygen cylinder in Amethi, for his grandfather.
However, the Twitter user, Shashank Yadav had not mentioned whether his grandfather had the coronavirus. Despite that, the Police has lodged an FIR against Shashank for allegedly spreading rumour aimed at triggering fear/alarm.
According to The Indian Express, the police claimed that the youngster was “spreading misleading information,” they said. Sub-inspector Virendra Singh of the Ramganj police station said that Yadav had given false information about the requirement of oxygen supply and coronavirus to target the Uttar Pradesh government. “During the investigation, it was found that several individuals have made allegations against the government because of the tweet posted by the accused,” Singh told the newspaper.
