In Andhra’s 3,221 Panchayats, BJP obtains merely 13 places

Over the central government’s implementation of controversial agricultural laws, there have been protests all around the country. Farmers are constantly protesting at the Delhi borders. But as the central government has not bowed to the demands of the protesting farmers, anti-BJP riots have sprung up across the country. Millions of people are joining the Farmers Mahapanchayats organized against the central government in several districts of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, otherwise known as the bastion of the BJP.

In the recent Punjab local body elections, the BJP faced a severe loss. The counting of votes for the third phase of panchayat elections in Andhra Pradesh ended on Wednesday. Of the 20 divisions in 13 districts, there are a total of 3,221 panchayats in 160 boards. Of these, 579 panchayats have been unanimously elected.

Of the remaining panchayats, the YSR Congress has won 2,291 panchayats, while the TDP supporters won 263 panchayats. BJP supporters have secured only 13 panchayats causing the national party to lose face. Reportedly, others have won 96 Gram Panchayats.
