Two-phased Gram Panchayath Election dates announced in Karnataka

The Election Commission in Karnataka on Monday announced the dates of Gram Panchayath Elections adding that the elections will be held in two phases in the state on December 22 and December 27.

The notifications for the election, the commission said will be issued by respective Deputy Commissioners of the district on December 7 and 11 respectively for phase one and two of the election.

The filing of nomination will start after the DC’s will issue notifications. Candidates for phase one will be able to file nominations till December 11 and candidates for phase two will be able to file nominations till December 16. Nominations will be screened on December 12 and 17 for the first and second phases respectively.

Candidates of first phase elections will be allowed to withdraw nominations till December 14, while second phase’s candidates will be allowed to withdrawn nominations till December 19.

In the case of recounting, the first phase will be held on December 24 and the second phase on December 29.
