Bantwal: KPCC President DK. Shivakumar said that the Former CM Siddaramaiah’s statement regarding beef consumption was his personal take on the issue. “The party does not subscribe to it, neither does the party lose anything because of it”, he clarified.
Responding to a question asked by journalists in the wake of the Supreme Court’s order upholding the ban on cattle slaughter, he clarified the party’s stance on the statement made by Siddaramaiah during his interactions with the media representatives at the conference in Bantwal.
“There was no need for a ban on cattle slaughter. It has been implemented to fulfill a political agenda. The practice of worshiping the cow has been there since before. Siddaramaiah has just spoken about his individual habits. His statements do not cause any loss to the party”, DK Shi expressed.
“People belonging to all classes do dairy business. Let the government grant them all 25,000 rupees to 50,000 rupees in compensation. After that they can even take them home if they want”, he said.
“Enforcing this law upholding the ban on cattle slaughter was unnecessary. They are doing this for the sake of politics. If they are really capable, let them ban beef export”, he challenged.
