Meerut: In an incident that occurred on Saturday, a 23-year-old Muslim woman named Arshi was violently assaulted by individuals belonging to a fringe organization ‘Hindu Jagran Manch’, at Meerut in Uttar Pradesh.
A per the reports in the International Business Times, the victim’s friends revealed that Arshi was attacked because her little establishment, a small teas shop, attracted more customers than the confectionary shop, causing the rival shop owner to maliciously retaliate.
Her friends also said that Arshi was routinely harassed by the rival shop owner, who demanded that she pay him recompenses for supposed losses.
Speaking to the IB Times, one of Arshi’s friend said, “She started the tea shop around two months ago. She rapidly upgraded her shop as per customers’ requirements and paid special attention to hygiene, and the number of customers to her shop started increasing steadily.”
In the aftermath of the assault, Arshi received injuries to her head. She is currently being treated at the district government hospital.
On the other hand, the city president of Hindu Jagran Manch spoke to the reporters and claimed that miscreants allegedly visit Arshi’s shop and locals had expressed grievances about it in the past.
In a turn of events, it is learned that police registered an FIR against Arshi and three of her friends on the behest of a woman from the rival group, on charges of assault, and an alleged attempt to rape.
After much enrage on Social media, the Meerut Police in a tweet claimed an FIR of an attempt to murder and another relevant section is being registered against the perpetrators based on the complaint made by Arshi’s family at the Delhi Gate Police Station.
