ನವದೆಹಲಿ: ದೆಹಲಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಜೈನ ಸಮುದಾಯದ ಕೆಲವರು ಮುಸ್ಲಿಮರಂತೆ ಟೊಪ್ಪಿ ಧರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿ 124 ಮೇಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಖರೀದಿಸಿ ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಬಕ್ರೀದ್ ಗೆ ಬಲಿಯಾಗದಂತೆ ತಡೆದಿದ್ದಾರೆ ವರದಿಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ಘಟನೆಗೆ ಪ್ರತಿಕ್ರಿಯೆಯಾಗಿ ಮುಂಬೈನ ಲೇಖಕ, ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತ ದರ್ಶನ್ ಮೊಂಡ್ಕರ್ ಎಂಬವರು ಮೇಕೆ ಖರೀದಿಸಿದ ಜೈನರಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ಪತ್ರ ಬರೆದಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಆ ಪತ್ರ ಹೀಗಿದೆ:

ಆತ್ಮೀಯ ಜೈನರೇ,

ಮೊತ್ತಮೊದಲನೆಯದಾಗಿ, ನೀವು ಅದ್ಭುತ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೀರಿ. ನೀವು ಹಳೆ ದೆಹಲಿಯ ಮಾರುಕಟ್ಟೆಗೆ ಮುಸ್ಲಿಮರಂತೆ ವೇಷ ಧರಿಸಿ ಹೋಗಿ 124 ಮೇಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಬಕ್ರೀದ್ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಖರೀದಿಸಿ, ಅವುಗಳು ಬಲಿಯಾಗದಂತೆ ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿದ್ದೀರಿ. ತಾರ್ಕಿಕವಾಗಿ ಚರ್ಚಿಸುವುದಾದರೆ, ಈದ್ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಥವಾ ಇನ್ನಾವುದೇ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಡುಗಳನ್ನು ಖರೀದಿಸಲು ಒಬ್ಬ ಮುಸಲ್ಮಾನನಂತೆ ವೇಷಭೂಷಣ ಧರಿಸಬೇಕಾಗಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ನೀವು ಯಾವುದೇ ಮಾಂಸ ಮಾರುಕಟ್ಟೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಬಹುದು. ಅವರು ನಿಮಗೆ ಆಡನ್ನು ಮಾರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಕಾರಣ, ಅದು ಅವರ ಉದ್ಯಮ ಮತ್ತು ಅವರ ಆದಾಯದ ಮೂಲವಾಗಿದೆ.

ಇದನ್ನು ಒಮ್ಮೆ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಿಸಿ ನೋಡಿ. ನಿಮಗೆ ಆಶ್ಚರ್ಯವಾಗಬಹುದು. “ನೀವು ಮುಸ್ಲಿಮರಲ್ಲದೇ ಇರುವಾಗ ಮೇಕೆಯನ್ನು ಏಕೆ ಖರೀದಿಸುತ್ತೀರಿ?” ಎಂದು ಯಾರೂ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕೇಳುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.

ಈ ಕಡೆಗಣಿಸಲಾಗದ ಸತ್ಯದ ಕುರಿತು ನಿಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಿಲ್ಲದಿರಬಹುದು. ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸಮಾಜದಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವುದೇ ಇತರ ಸಮುದಾಯಗಳಿಗೆ ಮನೆ ಖರೀದಿಸಲು ನೀವು ಎಂದಿಗೂ ಅನುಮತಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ನನಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಿದೆ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯನ್ನು ಹೊರತುಪಡಿಸಿ ಬೇರೆ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಗಳನ್ನು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳದೇ ಇರೋದನ್ನು ನಾನು ಅರ್ಥ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಲ್ಲೆ.

ಲಾಜಿಕ್ ಅನ್ನೋದು ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿದ್ಯುಚ್ಛಕ್ತಿಯಂತೆ! ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬರಿಗೂ ಅದು ಸಿಗೋದಿಲ್ಲ. ಅಲ್ಲದೇ, ಖಂಡಿತವಾಗಿಯೂ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲೂ ಅದು ಇರೋದೇ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಈಗ ನೀವು ಇನ್ನೂ ಒಂದು ಹೆಜ್ಜೆ ಮುಂದೆ ಹೋಗಬೇಕಾದ ಸಮಯ.

ನೀವು ಪಶ್ಚಿಮ ಮಹಾರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದರೆ, ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಗ್ರಾಮದೇವತೆಯ ಜಾತ್ರೆ ಎಂದು ನಡೆಯುತ್ತೆ. ಈ ಯಾತ್ರೆಯ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ, ಗ್ರಾಮದೇವತೆಯನ್ನು ಪೂಜಿಸಿದ ನಂತರ ಬೃಹತ್ ಮಟನ್ ಭೋಜನವಿರುತ್ತದೆ.

ನನ್ನ ಅಂದಾಜಿನ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಪ್ರತಿ ಮನೆಗೆ ಸುಮಾರು 4-5 ಮೇಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕಡಿದು ಇಡೀ ಗ್ರಾಮ ಮತ್ತು ಅವರ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಕರನ್ನು ಈ ‘ಪವಿತ್ರ ಭೋಜನ’ದಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಲ್ಗೊಳ್ಳಲು ಆಹ್ವಾನಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಹಾಗಾಗಿ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮುಂದಿನ ಭೇಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪಶ್ಚಿಮ ಮಹಾರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದರೆ ನೀವು ಊಹಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಆಡುಗಳನ್ನು ನೀವು ಉಳಿಸಬಹುದು.

ನೀವು ಬರೋದಾದ್ರೆ ನಾನೇ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಹತ್ತಿರದ ಬಸ್ ನಿಲ್ದಾಣದಿಂದ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಈ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಹಳ್ಳಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಕರೆದೊಯ್ಯುತ್ತೇನೆ ಎಂದು ಭರವಸೆ ನೀಡುತ್ತೇನೆ.

ನೀವು ಮೇಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಲು ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಿಸಬಹುದು. ಆದರೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕೆಲಸದಲ್ಲಿ ನೀವು ವಿಫಲರಾದರೆ ನಾನು ರುಚಿಕರವಾದ ಮಟನ್ ಊಟಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಎದುರು ನೋಡುತ್ತೇನೆ. ನೀವು ವಿಫಲರಾಗಬೇಕೆಂದು ನಾನು ಖಂಡಿತ ಬಯಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ದಯವಿಟ್ಟು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ತಪ್ಪಾಗಿ ಅರ್ಥೈಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಡಿ.

ನಿಮ್ಮ ಇದೇ ರೀತಿಯ ಸೇವೆಯ ಅಗತ್ಯವಿರುವ ಇತರ ಕೆಲವು ಸ್ಥಳಗಳು ಇಲ್ಲಿವೆ….

• ಪಶ್ಚಿಮ ಬಂಗಾಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ಕಾಳಿ ಮಾತೆಗೆ ಆಡುಗಳನ್ನು ಬೋಲಿ (ಅಂದ್ರೆ ಬಲಿದಾನ್) ಎಂದು ಅರ್ಪಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ಕಾಳಿಘಾಟ್ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರಮಿಶ್ ಮಾಂಗ್ಶೋ (ಮಟನ್ ಕರಿ) ಅನ್ನು ‘ಪವಿತ್ರ ಭೋಜನ’ವಾಗಿ ನೀಡುತ್ತಾರೆ.
• ಮಹಾರಾಷ್ಟ್ರದ ಕರಾವಳಿಯ ಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಗ್ರಿ ಕೋಲಿ ಸಮುದಾಯ ಗೌರಿ ದೇವಿಗೆ ಮಾಂಸ ಮತ್ತು ಮೀನುಗಳನ್ನು ಅರ್ಪಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
• ಹೆರಾತ್ ಅಥವಾ ಮಹಾಶಿವರಾತ್ರಿ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರಿ ಪಂಡಿತರ ಮನೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಶಿವ ಮತ್ತು ಪಾರ್ವತಿ ದೇವಿಯ ವಿವಾಹವನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅವರು ಹಬ್ಬದ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೀನು ಮತ್ತು ಕುರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಅರ್ಪಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.

ನೀವು ಇತರ ದೇಶಗಳಿಗೆ ಮಾಂಸವನ್ನು ರಫ್ತು ಮಾಡುವ ಅಲ್ ಕಬೀರ್‌ನಂತಹ ಕಂಪನಿಗಳನ್ನು ಖರೀದಿಸಬಹುದು ಮತ್ತು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಮುಚ್ಚಿ ಬಿಡಬಹುದು.

ಈ ಮಾಂಸ ರಫ್ತು ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನವುಗಳ ಮಾಲಕರು ಯಾರೆಂದು ನನಗೆ ಯಾವುದೇ ಸುಳಿವು ಇಲ್ಲ. ನಿಜವಾಗಿಯೂ ನನಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ.

ನೀವು ಈ ಸೇವೆ ವಿಸ್ತರಿಸಲು ಹೊರಟರೆ ಇಂತಹ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳ ಪಟ್ಟಿ ಮುಗಿಯುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ನೀವು ಈಗಲೇ ಈ ಸೇವೆ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿದರೆ, ಮುಂದಿನ ವರ್ಷ ಇದೇ ವೇಳೆಗೆ ನೀವು ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಇಂತಹ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳನ್ನು ಹಾಗೂ ಘಟನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕವರ್ ಮಾಡಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.

ಮತ್ತೊಮ್ಮೆ ಹೇಳ್ತೀನಿ , ದೆಹಲಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನೀವು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದು ನಿಜವಾಗಿಯೂ ಶ್ಲಾಘನೀಯ.

ಇನ್ನು ನೀವು ಮೇಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಖರೀದಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಮುಸ್ಲಿಮರಿಗೆ ಈದ್‌ಗೆ ತಿನ್ನಲು ಮೇಕೆ ಸಿಗದಂತಾಗಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೆ ಮೇಕೆ ಮಾರಾಟಗಾರರು ಹೆಚ್ಚುವರಿ ವ್ಯಾಪಾರ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ನಿಮಗೆ ಧನ್ಯವಾದಗಳು. ಅವರು ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಮಾರಾಟ ಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕಿಂತ 124 ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಮೇಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾರಾಟ ಮಾಡಿದರು.

ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ, ಪ್ರಿಯ ಜೈನ ಬಾಂಧವರೇ, ಆರ್ಥಿಕವಾಗಿ ಕೆಳಗಿರುವ ಸಮುದಾಯದ ವ್ಯವಹಾರಗಳಿಗೆ ಸಹಾಯ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ನಿಮಗೆ ಧನ್ಯವಾದಗಳು.

ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿ ಮತ್ತು “ಶುದ್ಧತೆ”ಯ ಕುರಿತು ಜನರಿಗೆ ನೀವು ಕಲಿಸಲು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸುವುದನ್ನು ನಾನು ಎದುರು ನೋಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಅದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಎಲ್ಲ ಧರ್ಮದವರಿಗೂ ತಾರತಮ್ಯ ಮಾಡದೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸೊಸೈಟಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಖರೀದಿಸಲು ಅವಕಾಶ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಡಿ. ಇದರಿಂದ ಅವರು ನಿಮ್ಮಂತೆಯೇ ಆಗಬಹುದು.

ನಾನು ನೀವು ಮಾಡಿದ ಸೇವೆಗಾಗಿ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತು ಚಪ್ಪಾಳೆ ತಟ್ಟುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆ. ಆದರೆ ನಾನು ಕುಳಿತು ಬಿರಿಯಾನಿ ತಿನ್ನುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಈಗ ಎದ್ದು ನಿಂತು ಚಪ್ಪಾಳೆ ತಟ್ಟಿದರೆ ಇಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲ ಗಲೀಜಾಗಿ ಬಿಡುತ್ತೆ.

ಇನ್ನು ನೀವು ಖರೀದಿಸಿದ ಆ 124 ಆಡುಗಳಿಗೆ ಈಗ ಏನಾಗಲಿದೆ ಎಂದು ನಾನು ಯೋಚಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ನೀವು ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ಸಾಕಿ, ಅವುಗಳು ಬಹಳಷ್ಟು ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಹೆತ್ತು, ಅವುಗಳು ಮಾಂಸದ ಆಡುಗಳಾಗಿ ಬೆಳೆದರೆ ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಮುಂದಿನ ಬಕ್ರೀದ್ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಪುನಃ ನೀವು ಮುಸ್ಲಿಮರಂತೆ ವೇಷಭೂಷಣ ಧರಿಸಿ ಖರೀದಿಸಬಹುದು.

Dear Jains,

First of let me tell you what a fantastic job you have done.

You went to a market in Old Delhi, dressed up as Muslims and bought 124 goats to save them from slaughter during Eid.

Now, logically speaking, one doesn’t have to dress up as a Muslim to buy goats (during Eid or otherwise). You can simply walk into any meat market and they will sell you the goat, because, thats their job and their source of income.

Try it… you will be surprised at how no one asks you “Why are you buying a goat when you aren’t a Muslim?”

You might not have been aware of this fact, but that’s okay, I know how you never allow any other communities to even buy a house in your society, so not being exposed to cultures other than yours is understandable.

And then again, logic is like electricity in India, not everyone gets it and definitely not all the time.

Having said that, I think it is time to up the ante.

If you come down to Western Maharashtra, we have something called as a GramDevat Jatra/Yatra.

During this Yatra, after the Gramdevat is worshipped there is a huge Mutton Meal. According to my knowledge close to 4-5 goats are culled for this meal PER HOUSEHOLD and the entire village and their kin is invited to partake in this “Holy Meal”.

So the next trip you have to make would be to Western Maharashtra, during this Yatra and you will get to save even more goats than you could possibly imagine.

And if you are ever in my part of the town, I promise to pick you up from the nearest bus stand and take you to all these villages. You can try to save the goats, while I look forward to a sumptuous meal lest you fail in your task. (Not that I want you to fail, please don’t misunderstand me)

Here are a few other places where your services are required….

• West Bengal where they offer goats as Boli (Balidaan) to Kali Maata, especially at the Kalighat Temple where niramish mangsho (mutton curry) as a sacred meal.
• Coastal Maharashtra where the Agri Koli community offers meat and fish to Goddess Gauri
• The homes of Kashmiri Pandits during Herath which celebrates the wedding of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati who are offered fish and lamb during the festivities.
• Then again you can simply buy the companies like Al Kabeer which export meat to other countries and then simply shut them down (That will show them HAH). I have no clue who owns most of these meat export firms…..really I don’t.

Ofcourse, the list can be endless as are the opportunities for you to do your good deeds.

If you start now, maybe you will be able to cover all such events in India by the same time next year.

Once again, I really appreciate what you did in Delhi.

Its not like the Muslims didn’t get goats to eat on Eid but the goat sellers did do extra business, thanks to you.

They sold 124 more goats than what they would have otherwise sold normally.

So, thank you, dear Jains, for helping the economy, especially the marginalized community’s businesses.

Looking forward to the day when you start teaching people about your culture and “purity” by allowing them to buy houses in your societies without discriminating against them based on their religious identities so that they can all become like you.

I would have given you a standing ovation here, but I was sitting down and having Biryani, and all that standing up and clapping hands would have been extremely messy.

Disclaimer: I wonder what is going to happen to those 124 goats now. But I hope they are well reared and they have a lot of babies who grow up to be strong meaty goats which can be bought by the Jains again during the next Eid, dressing up as Muslims 🙂
