The Madras High Court has cancelled an FIR filed by the Kanyakumari police against a young man named Jafar Sadiq for protesting against the CAA. The protest by the young man was peaceful, The Madras High Court bench headed by Justice R. Hemalatha said.
A case had been registered against Jafar Sadiq at Bhootappandi police station in Kanyakumari district. Jafar Sadiq and his friends were protesting against the CAA law on March 12th when the Special Sub-Inspector was on patrol. The complaint made against him alleged obstruction of public places and disruption to vehicular traffic on roads. The Special Sub-Inspector is the main complainant in the case.
However, the court ruled that no violence or unpleasant incident had occurred during the protest. The protest was peaceful, the court said, adding that there were no unpleasant incidents as stated in the complaint.
