Bangalore: Social Democratic Party of India won 225 seats in Karnataka Gram Panchayat election as the result announced yesterday.
The result witnessed 300% increase from the party’s last GP result of 2015. SDPI won majority in 3 Gram Panchayats and also the party will be king maker in more than 10 GPs.
The party’s candidates lost more than 50 seats with close margin. 20% of winners are Dalit and OBC and more than 50% are women.The party had won only 68 seats in last election held in 2015.
In Dakshin Kannada 171 SDPI backed candidates registered victory. The party won 17 seats in Udupi, 7 in Uttar Kannada , 12 in Coorg, 4 in Hassan, 2 in Ballari, 7 in Gulbarga, 1 in Koppal, 1 in Belgavi, 1 in Yadgir, 1 in Dharwad.
