Vice-Chancellor of Allahabad University complains against Azan!

Allahabad University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sangita Srivastava wrote to senior officials of Prayagaraj and in her letter said that the Azan of the nearby Mosque was disrupting her sleep and causing her headaches throughout the day causing hindrance to her work.
In a letter to DM Bhanu Chandra Goswami, she said that every morning around 5:30 am, the moulvis of the nearby mosque calling the loud azan has troubled her sleep. Although she is trying hard, she couldn’t sleep afterward, and that it was difficult to work during the day she suffered from headaches throughout the day.

Residing 400 meters away from the Lal Masjid at Civil Lines, the Allahabad Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sangita Srivastava said, “I am not against any caste or religion. If they call Azan without the mike, then other people won’t be bothered. During Ramzan, they begin the Seheri on the mike at 4 am. Other people are being bothered by this”, the letter said.
The letter has also been sent to Pragya Raj (rank) IG Kavindra Pratap Singh and SSP Sarvaresh Tripathi and Pragya Raj divisional commissioner Sanjay Goel.
The letter has been received by the recipients. According to the report from the Indian Express, DM Goswami of Prayag Raj has informed, “After checking, we will act according to the rules and regulations.”

Lucknow-based Sunni Scholar Maulana Khalid Rashid Firangi Mahali speak against the letter and said, “The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Allahabad letter has requested to block the loudspeakers for Azan. We oppose it. The Vice-Chancellor should know that our country is known for the Ganga-Yamuna Tehzeeb.”
“The sound of the azan from mosques and the bhajans and hymns from the temples are always in the air. So far nobody’s sleep has been disturbed. It is pointless to say such things and the order of the Hon’ble High Court is being followed in the mosques since the beginning,” he said.
