Chennai: In the next few months, assembly elections are set to take place in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. After making a grand allocation in the budget to these regions, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will begin his tour of Tamil Nadu tomorrow (Sunday). However, the #GoBackModi trending on Twitter today (Saturday) has caused a huge embarrassment for the BJP.
The GoBackModi hashtag is currently trending on Top 2 onTwitter. Tamil actress Ovia has also tweeted using this hashtag. Activist Meena Kandaswamy’s tweet, ” Didn’t know we are a day ahead on #GoBackModi”, was retweeted more than 700 times on Twitter.
The “Go Back” slogan was used by Gandhi during the independence struggle against the British. “Go Back Simon Commission ”is a major movement in the history of Gandhiji’s struggles. Ironically now in the age of social media, people have reached a stage where the ‘Go Back’ slogan has become instrumental in opposing certain leaders.
